Anybody know how to see if the track tours have been cancelled or not due to rain?

Eddie M.

I usually trailer the car to events but I'm only about 30 minutes away and since it's in the evening probably don't need to worry about getting out of the sun as much. Debating whether to just drive over or not. Any recommendations on this from those who have attended?

Kevin Van Meier

Kathleen Barnes: I replied to my question about registering with the following response:  "Ken, the cancellation has been done."  What cancellation are you referring to?  I'm driving on Oct 21 at Daytona.  I am bringing a guest.  There are multiple references around the Track Tour portion of the event and I'm trying to find out if I need to also register for the Track Tour portion, and if so, how.  There is NO information on the website explaining how to register to drive during the Track Tour laps if I am also registered to drive during Track Night.   Please let me know what you mean by "... the cancellation has been done."  I'm assuming this does not apply to me because my name is not Ken and I paid for and absolutely plan on driving during Track Night.  Thank you for clarifying.  Kevin

Jennifer McAbee

Kevin, if you are already registered in Novice, Intermediate or Advanced you do not need to also register for Tour Laps. The Track Tour laps are open to everyone wearing a Track Night wristband. If you have guests planning to ride in your car, they will need to go sign in and get a TNiA wristband too.

I’m trying to pre-order the photo package but the hyperlink is not working it’s throwing it to an unknown website that its not the media one so unknown how to make the request

Kathleen Barnes

@Kevin - yes!

Yo M.

How do I register as a spectator?

Kathleen Barnes

No pre-registration to spectate,  but if you want to do Track Tours - please do a registration.

Ken Battan

I cannot make Thursdays event(car problems) I filled out the form, but haven't heard back.

Kevin Van Meier

Do we need to register separately (or in advance) for the Track Tour laps, or can I register the day of the event when I arrive at the track?

James Vincent Rodatus

For a large event like Daytona, it is MUCH easier if you register ahead of time.

Kevin Van Meier

I registered for Track Night, so I'm all set for the 21st, but I meant to ask if I want to drive my guest around the track during the "Track Tour" laps (open to all), is there a separate registration for the Track Tour laps?  There is no mention of that on the Daytona email or website.  Thank you.

Kathleen Barnes

Ken the cancellation has been done.

Are track tour laps driven by me in my car? I have a passenger coming and I’m just trying to see how much track time they will get. Any additional information about what guests get to do will be helpful. Is there an air-conditioned space for them to sit in? I understand there are no concessions will have to bring our own food and drink.

James Vincent Rodatus

You get to drive your own car on the lead-follow Track Tour laps.  Your friend can drive their car or your car as well.  I'm not sure if there are any buildings with a/c open to us.

Jensen Lawrence

Are passengers allowed?

James Vincent Rodatus

Only on track tour laps.

Dale A.

Are the "Paced Laps" open to anyone or just the Novice group?

James Vincent Rodatus

Check with the Novice group coach.  We'll work you in if we can, but pace laps are VERY popular at Daytona.

Jeremy G.

Is a novice someone who has never driven on a track or never driven at Daytona? Also how much time on track do you get? Interested in this event and it'll be my first Daytona but 4th track day in FL. I've done Sebring, The Firm, Gainesville and my driveway :)

James Vincent Rodatus

It's up to you, your comfort level, and your experience.  You're welcome to run Novice as many times as you like.

Jeremy G.

Are we talking 10 laps, 20? That’s what I’m trying to understand. If it’s limited to 5 I’m not sure I’d like to participate. See what I mean?

Francis A.

You get 3 20 minute sessions and if you're novice there's a session of paced laps. It's a cool experience driving Daytona at speed. There isn't a lap limit, there's a time limit. You should be close to 20 laps by the end of the night, but you probably won't be counting

As a novice myself, each session I get right at 5 laps done. 3 "hot" sessions PLUS a preceeding paced lap session of 20 mins before the hot sessions start. You can also do the track tour lap session (that's open to anyone) that adds another ~20 mins of laps (approx 3-4 laps) at higher than highway speeds if you leave a bit of a gap in front of you. So over the full evening, you can get almost 100 mins of track time with an hour of it as hot laps as fast as you are comfortable driving. I find it's plenty for what you pay for! And in my 2017 Grand Sport Vette, I'm on fumes at the end!

I'm hoping someone can give me the name of our Novice group instructor from last night at Daytona. He was going to share his instagram address but I didn't have a chance to get it.

James Vincent Rodatus

Coyote Black is the name you're looking for.  He's a good dude and stands out.
