SCCA in Autoweek: Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack

The 2019 SCCA® Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack season is already underway. Registration opened early in March for over 130 events hosted by 30 different tracks across the country. You can check out the event schedule at https://www.tracknightinamerica.com/events.

Autoweek writer Steven Cole Smith visited a Track Night in America event earlier this year at Palm Beach International Raceway.  You can read more about his experience in the Autoweek article titled “SCCA Track Night in America driven by Tire Rack: A good idea gets bigger.”

“Indeed, when we last left the SCCA’s Track Night in America, the fledgling program that lets normal people in normal cars take to a real racetrack was growing, but wasn’t yet at capacity,” the article states. “Tuesday night at Palm Beach International Raceway, it was, and then some. About 85 cars in three different categories is all TNIA can handle. There was that many, plus a waiting list of 15, plus a dozen or so who just showed up, hoping for a spot.”

Track Night in America is a non-competitive, no-stress, entertaining, easy and inexpensive way for nearly anyone who loves cars or motorsports to get on a real racecourse in their own vehicle during weeknights.  All that is required is that participants be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and have access to an approved helmet and street car in good working condition.

The price to participate is usually around $150 per event. Some special events and certain tracks may be a bit more. No previous on-track experience or SCCA membership is required to join in the fun.  Drivers participate in the Advanced, Intermediate or KONI Novice Experience group so on-track activities remain fun for all, and everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on course -- as well as feedback from SCCA driver coaches on site. Admission is free for people who just want to stop by and watch the fun, and leisurely circuit parade laps are provided for all Track Night in America guests.

But as Autoweek noted, Track Night in America sessions are filling up fast. Go to https://www.tracknightinamerica.com today to reserve a spot so you don’t miss out on the fun.
