You Need Schoolin’. We’re Not Foolin’.

Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack is on hiatus until next year.  But that doesn’t mean fans of performance driving are stuck in the pits for the winter.  For many, the “off” season is a time to head back to school … performance driving school, that is.

There are many reasons to attend a performance driving school.  First, it’s just a great way to have fun with cars.  Second, it’s a way to move from being a race spectator to an actual race driver.  And even if you don’t want to be a race driver, attending a performance driving school provides a better appreciation for the skills professionals exhibit on track.

Good driving coaches will supply many tips whether you’re attending a half-day experience or multi-day program. And when it’s all said and done, you may have an SCCA competition license.  But if nothing else, you’ll be a little better prepared to handle what comes your way on everyday streets.

During the year, many Regions host racing schools.  The SCCA also has a list of accredited professional driving schools.  And if you need more information, check out what Autoweek had to say earlier this year in its article titled “High-performance driving schools: Your complete guide.”
