SCCA Week Ahead: Sept. 11-Sept. 17

If you’ve been craving an afternoon on a racetrack in your own car, then SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack has the week for you!  There are five events on the calendar next week starting with a stop Monday, Sept. 12, at Pittsburgh International Race Complex in Wampum, Pennsylvania, followed by an event Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania.  Then on Wednesday, Sept. 14, there are two Track Night in America visits with one at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut, and the other at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, Washington.  Track Night then wraps up its week of activity on Thursday, Sept. 15, at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California.

A very popular SCCA program, Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack is a non-competitive, entertaining, easy and inexpensive way for those that love cars or motorsports to get out on a racecourse. All that is required is that participants be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and have access to a helmet and street car in good working condition. The cost is never greater than $150 per event, and no previous on-track experience or Sports Car Club of America membership is required. Drivers participate in the Advanced, Intermediate or KONI Novice Experience group so on-track activities remain fun for all. Everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on course, as well as feedback from SCCA driver coaches on site. Admission is free for people who just want to stop by and watch the fun, and leisurely circuit parade laps are provided for all Track Night guests.

On the pro side of SCCA, make plans to watch Pirelli World Challenge drivers Sept. 16-18 tackle Sonoma Raceway in California. And the Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda will be at Road Atlanta Sept. 17-18 in Braselton, Georgia.

As always, SCCA Regions have a lot planned throughout the country.  Be sure to check out the full slate of activities at the SCCA website calendar.  And don’t forget to keep an eye out for upcoming Tire Rack Street Survival dates near you.

Enjoy!
