SCCA Week Ahead: Aug. 14-20

How can you get your motorsports fix in the coming week? The Sports Car Club of America has a few ideas.

Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack is pulling double duty on Thursday, August 18, with one event at Palmer Motorsports Park in Ware, Massachusetts, and a second event the same evening at Thunderhill Raceway in Willows, California. These are non-competitive, entertaining, easy and inexpensive ways for those that love cars or motorsports to get out on a racecourse in their own vehicle. All that is required is that participants be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and have access to a helmet and street car in good working condition. The cost is never greater than $150 per event, and no previous on-track experience or Sports Car Club of America membership is required.

Track Night in America drivers participate in the Advanced, Intermediate or KONI Novice Experience group so on-track activities remain fun for all. Everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on course, as well as feedback from SCCA driver coaches on site. Admission is free for people who just want to stop by and watch the fun, and leisurely circuit parade laps are provided for all Track Night guests.

Another option for SCCA automotive entertainment takes place Saturday, August 20, with the Tire Rack Starting Line School at Monroe Community College Brighton Campus near Rochester, New York. This school gives enthusiasts a professional, all-inclusive entry into the world of performance driving. The full-day school introduces key concepts applicable to all forms of motorsports and allows you to develop skills while working with professional performance driving instructors. If you are looking for motorsports competition or just a great way to enjoy the capabilities of your car, the Tire Rack SCCA Starting Line is your complete motorsports starter kit.

Enjoy!
