Track Night Plus More: The Targa Experience

Registration Open for First SCCA Targa Event

Registration is now open for Targa Southland, the first ever SCCA Targa event.  The experience will take place Aug. 11-14 at a price of $395 per team, with a meal plan option available.  An explanation of the challenge and detailed rules can be found at the SCCA Targa homepage.

Hearty souls taking on the Targa test will first meet at Charlotte Motor Speedway for a Welcome Party/Check-in Thursday evening before reconvening bright and early the following morning for an Autocross at zMAX Dragway.  After that, participants will head over to Charlotte Motor Speedway for a Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack experience before packing up and heading to Dawsonville, Georgia that evening.

On Saturday, Targa tacklers open their day with a Time Trial at Atlanta Motorsports Park, followed by a Road Rally through the mountains of north Georgia on their way to a Cook-Out/Car Show at a secret location in Kentucky.  The final day of driving fun begins Sunday with another Autocross at NCM Motorsports Park, then a TrackCross at the same venue which precedes a trophy presentation to conclude the event.

There are two ways to get involved in SCCA Targa.  The first is Targa Competition where teams are slotted into one of seven classes.  Those participants are timed, scored, ranked and eligible for awards.  The other level of immersion is the Targa Experience.  This group will participate in all events, too, but without the hassles and complications of competition.

The Targa adventure, conjured up by the SCCA Experiential Department, was created as another unique way for Club members to have fun with cars. This new escapade is designed to showcase the SCCA lifestyle across multiple activities.  More information, as well as a breakdown of rules and regulations, can be found at the SCCA Targa rules homepage.
