Track Night Drivers Say the Darndest Things – Episode 1

With nearly 40 events in our rearview mirror, the men and women that power SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack have spent more than 200 hours with fun-loving automotive enthusiasts around the country. During that time, we’ve managed to catch some great and hilarious comments over the sound of growling engines and squealing tires. Below are a few unattributed gems from anonymous folk that made us smile …

- “Never thought I’d see a Mazda minivan on a race course.”

- “Now that I’ve smelled a new helmet, I’m really bothered I put my old one on my head.”

- “There’s a yellow flag for a wild turkey?”

- “I’ll be back next month and I’m bringing friends.”

- “Oh, so that's what brakes smell like.”

- “Is there a button that makes me a better driver?”

- “I’m not gonna sleep tonight. I’m too amped up. Who wants to go to Waffle House?”

- “Station wagons aren’t supposed to sound that awesome!”

- “Can you take a cell phone shot of me on track?”

- “Now THAT was fun. I think I'm addicted."

Indeed, it has been fun. To grab a slice of this party pie, you only need be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license, and have access to a helmet and street car in good working condition. No race cars permitted! No previous on-track experience required! And you don't need to be an SCCA member to join the jam.

The cost is never more than $150 per event. Poke around our website a bit and you’ll likely find a discount here or there. Our guests are divided into Novice, Intermediate or Advanced groups so on-track time remains fun for all. Everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on track, as well as access to SCCA driving instructors. Admission is free for those wishing to hang out and enjoy the festivities or display cherished rides, and a leisurely track parade lap is offered during most events for all guests.

Come party with us at SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack … so we can hear more awesome comments that keep us smiling at nearly 20 tracks each month around the U.S. through September.
