SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack Partners with Pirelli World Challenge® to Launch TrackPass at Lime Rock Park

UPDATE: The TrackPass Package will now include 4 20-minute sessions!

TOPEKA, Kan. (April 6, 2016) – SCCA Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack today announced a new initiative, called TrackPass, that provides a unique VIP experience for racing fans and automotive enthusiasts. Through TrackPass, people get the chance to mingle with pro drivers and teams, watch all the action of a professional race weekend and have an on-course SCCA Track Night in America experience.

This first installment of the program, through a partnership with Pirelli World Challenge® (PWC), offers incredible access to the May 26-28 PWC races at Lime Rock Park. TrackPass activities begin Thursday morning when guests join PWC drivers for an actual course walk, followed by track sessions Thursday afternoon where participants each get three FOUR 20-minute sessions on the 7-turn, 1.53-mile Lime Rock road course. And as if that wasn’t enough, TrackPass guests will also receive gate passes so they can watch PWC and Formula 4 practice, qualifying and racing on Friday and Saturday.

TrackPass registration will open April 15 at the Track Night in America website (www.TrackNightinAmerica.com), and reservations can only be made online. Heyward Wagner, SCCA Director of Experiential Programs, said the $295 event price also provides TrackPass participants a guided, behind-the-scenes PWC paddock walk Friday night.

“For the Track Night community, this is the best possible introduction to SCCA Pro Racing,” Wagner said. “This is an opportunity to meet and learn from Pirelli World Challenge drivers, receive a behind-the-scenes tour of the Pro Racing paddock, and a chance to watch the first ever Formula 4 race in the United States. And it’s all capped with on-track sessions where they can experience Lime Rock for themselves in their own vehicles.”

Skip Barber, President of Lime Rock Park, noted that Lime Rock is a track that looks deceivingly simple but is immensely challenging to drive. It can be argued that the track is one of the most significantly historic road racing circuits in North America.

“I applaud the SCCA’s initiative to bring younger drivers into the fold,” Barber said. “Lime Rock is very pleased to continue growing this very important segment of American motorsport.”

Track Night in America Driven by Tire Rack is a non-competitive, entertaining, easy and inexpensive way for nearly anyone who loves cars or motorsports to get on a racecourse in their own vehicle during weeknights. All that is required is that participants be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license and have access to a helmet and street car in good working condition. Drivers participate in the Advanced, Intermediate or KONI Novice Experience group so on-track activities remain fun for all. Everyone gets three 20-minute sessions on course, as well as feedback from SCCA driver coaches on site. No previous on-track experience or SCCA membership is required.

Great event!  Thanks to the SCCA staff and drivers Shea Holbrook, Sloane Urry and Brian Heikotter for the advice and assistance.  The fact that the event was run in conjunction with the PWC made it all the more memorable.   I'll certainly be back for the next event!
